Visiting Our Nation’s Capital

Washington, D.C. is an exciting city to visit and is home to some of our nation’s finest historical and cultural attractions. My office is always happy to help you plan your visit please use the button below to schedule a tour or send an email to tours_cardin@cardin.senate.gov with any questions. Please note: Due to the Coronavirus Outbreak (COVID-19), the White House and U.S. Capitol have suspended all tours for an indefinite period.

The White House

The White House offers self-guided tour on Tuesdays through Saturdays in the mornings beginning at 7:30 am. Tours are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis and should be requested at least 100 days in advance.

We are pleased to request tours for Maryland residents. Please fill out the tour request form or email tours_cardin@cardin.senate.gov with your name, home address and email address. We will reply with the additional information we need to request a White House tour for you.

The U.S. Capitol Building

Tours of the United State Capitol begin at the Capitol Visitor Center with an excellent orientation film. Please go to the website for more information about Capitol tours and other attractions in the Visitor Center.

You can book a guided Capitol tour for the time most convenient for you by clicking “Book a Tour” on the Visitors Center website. Tours do not include passes for the Senate Gallery. If you want to visit the gallery, you can stop by my office at 509 Hart Senate Office Building to pick up gallery passes before your tour.
