WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin today announced that he has named Robin Summerfield as his Western Maryland Representative. Starting on July 9, Mr. Summerfield will represent the Senator in Garrett, Allegany, Washington and Frederick counties, work with constituents on federal issues, coordinate with local and state officials, and handle community outreach.
Mr. Summerfield, a resident of Allegany County and a graduate of Frostburg State University, has extensive experience in the field of child welfare and juvenile services. He has served as a Systems of Care Specialist for The Local Management Board of Allegany County and is a former Regional Coordinator for the Alliance for Children, Inc. He also is President-elect of the Maryland Chapter of National Association of Social Workers. He also has had small business experience working for family-owned business Summerfield Aviation, which is located at Cumberland Regional Airport.
“Robin will be my eyes and ears in Western Maryland. He is experienced, dedicated and knowledgeable. He cares greatly and has a keen insight into issues that are important to residents of Western Maryland,” said Senator Cardin in announcing his appointment.
The Senator has said that the “Western Maryland faces several important challenges, particularly in the areas of agriculture, transportation, economic development and jobs. I plan to be very involved in making sure that Western Maryland has the resources to address many of these issues.”
