SENATOR CARDIN APPOINTS CARROLL COUNTY TEEN TO BE SENATE PAGE

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin today announced that he has appointed Lauren Hickey of Carroll County to be a U.S. Senate Page this summer. Lauren, 17, will be a senior at Westminster High School in September and will serve as a Senate Page from June 9 to June 27.

“Lauren is my first appointment to the U.S. Senate Page program, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Senate Pages learn about the inner-workings of the U.S. Senate and are given a wonderful opportunity to be an eyewitness to history,” said Senator Cardin.

For more than 100 years, Pages have served the U.S. Congress. Pages are appointed and sponsored by a member of Congress, and must be high school juniors and at least 16 years old. Senate Page duties consist primarily of delivery of correspondence and legislative material within the Congressional complex. Other duties include preparing the chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk.
