SEN. CARDIN NAMES SOUTHERN MARYLAND FIELD REPRESENTATIVE

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin today announced that he has named Hammad S. Matin as his Southern Maryland Field Representative. Starting April 1, Mr. Matin will represent the Senator in Charles, St. Mary's and Calvert counties, work with constituents on federal issues, coordinate with local and state officials, and handle community outreach.

Mr Matin served as Assistant State's Attorney for Charles County for six years. He is currently chair of the Charles Co. Housing Commission. He is an active member of the 4th and 5th Democratic Club, New Western Democratic Club, Northern Democratic Club and the Charles County Young Democrats. He graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is a graduate of the Washington & Lee University School of Law.

“Hammad will be my eyes and ears in Southern Maryland. He is experienced, dedicated and knowledgeable, and he has a keen insight into issues that are important to residents of Southern Maryland,” said Sen. Cardin in announcing his appointment.

The Senator has said that “Southern Maryland is facing a number of important challenges, particularly in the areas of development and growth, affordable housing and needed improvements to the transportation infrastructure. I plan to be very involved in making sure that Southern Maryland has the resources to address many of the these issues.”

Mr. Matin will work out of Sen. Cardin's Field Office in Bowie, Maryland
