WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, announced that Sean Bartlett has joined the Democratic staff for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as Communications Director. In this role, he will serve as senior press advisor to the senator on all aspects of foreign affairs.
“Sean has a strong background in communications and we are fortunate to have him join our staff. The United States must continue to take a leading role on many pressing issues around the world and I am confident that Sean will do an incredible job ensuring our message is heard in a clear and timely way,” said Senator Cardin. “Sean has a proven record as a strong communicator to national and international audiences, and I am proud to welcome him to the Senate Foreign Relations team.”
Before coming to Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Bartlett served U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) as Communications Director in her House office and as Senior Communications Advisor in her DNC office. Previously, he has worked as a Senior Communications Officer at the UN Foundation and as Americas Regional Editor for Foreign Policy Digest, as well as served U.S. Representative Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) as her Press Secretary. A native of Syracuse, NY Sean received a B.A. in Political Science from Stony Brook University and a M.A. in Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs from American University’s School of International Service.
