Honoring Our Heroes On Veterans Day

On Veterans Day, we thank the millions of brave men and women who have served in the Armed Forces and risked their lives for our nation. We honor them for their valor, their dedication, and the many sacrifices they have made in order to protect all of us. Each citizen should strive to follow our veterans’ example of selflessness and service.

We are exceedingly grateful to those who have served, those who are serving, and their family and friends who support them daily. Our military families endure long periods of separation and loneliness, but their commitment to our nation is unyielding. They are an important part of why we have the finest military in the world.

As we thank our veterans, let us also show gratitude to those currently serving in uniform, who will become the veterans of tomorrow. For those serving that are deployed, we pray for their safe return and want them to know we are ready to provide them with the resources and benefits they have earned with their extraordinary service. Maryland is home to more than 470,000 veterans to whom we made solemn promises. I am committed to making sure they receive the support they were promised. I know everyone in Maryland and all across the nation joins me in saying, once again, thank you.
