CARDIN WELCOMES PRESIDENT OBAMA TO MARYLAND, ECHOES HIS CALL FOR ACTION ON HEALTH CARE REFORM

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Cardin (D-MD) joined President Barack Obama today for his rally with students at the University of Maryland at College Park to promote passage of health care reform legislation.
President Obama highlighted that The University of Maryland is unique among schools nationwide,
because it was the first to require that all new freshmen have health insurance.

“Inaction is not an option for health care reform. The fire and enthusiasm the President brought to College Park today is shared by me and millions of Americans who understand that family budgets and our nation’s economy cannot continue to support the doubling of health care expenses every decade.
Staying health – or getting healthy – should never be dependent on an individual’s ability to pay their bills.

“After talking to doctors, nurses, and other Marylanders across our state, it is clear that we must move forward on reform.
Our goal is simple: we must bring down the escalating cost of health care while providing access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans. And we must accomplish this without adding to our nation’s deficit.”
