Cardin Statement on the Passing of Elie Wiesel

BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement on the passing of Holocaust survivor, author, human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel.

“Elie Wiesel was a voice for a generation of the Jewish people who had seen and experienced horrors no people should endure. From Night to Day, and far beyond, his words broke through barriers and spoke for all humanity. He was a man of conviction and passion. His light in this world will be greatly missed. I offer my prayers and condolences to his family and all those whose heart, like mine, has been touched by his spirit.”
