Cardin Statement on Jersey City Shooting at Kosher Supermarket

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Special Representative on Anti-Semitism, Racism, and Intolerance for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly, released the following statement on the shooting earlier this week in Jersey City, N.J.

“I am heartbroken by the loss of four innocent souls during the shooting at the JC Kosher Supermarket in Jersey City. Though details about the event and its perpetrators are still emerging, this targeted attack on the Jewish community clearly reflects the tide of anti-Semitic violence that is rising across the country and around the world. We must stand in solidarity against this sort of terrorism. Leaders from the White House to the street corner need to stop giving oxygen to those who push hateful tropes and vile stereotypes. It is past time we all work together to end the violence and fulfill the promise of ‘Never Again.’”
