Cardin Statement on Baltimore’s 34th Annual Artscape Festival

BALTIMOREU.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) issued the following statement recognizing the national significance of Artscape. Artscape is the largest free arts festival in America and is held Baltimore’s Bolton Hill and Station North Arts & Entertainment District neighborhoods.

“From Edgar Allen Poe, to Billie Holiday, to John Waters and beyond, Baltimore has always played a leading role on the national stage in pushing the envelope of art in America. This week, Baltimore will build on that tradition by hosting the 34th annual Artscape Festival. As the largest free arts festival in the country, Artscape is the perfect place to enjoy art in styles and mediums as diverse as Baltimore itself.

“There is something for everybody at Artscape. I encourage everyone to visit Baltimore and enjoy one of the most unique festival experiences anywhere in America.  Artscape is a perfect example of private-public partnerships teaming together to provide city residents and guests with a memorable experience.”

Artscape is produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, Inc. (BOPA) on behalf of the Baltimore Festival of the Arts, Inc (BFAI).  BOPA is a 501(c)3 non-profit which serves as Baltimore City’s arts council, film office and special events agency. Artscape’s total economic impact on Baltimore City is $25.97 million.
