BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) issued the following statement recognizing Baltimore Pride Week 2016. Organized by The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Baltimore (GLCCB), Baltimore Pride is the largest LGBTQ visibility event in Maryland. Running July 19 – 24, Baltimore Pride provides a chance to experience and learn more about the LGBTQ community through a week of events and exhibitions.
“Love is love. The Baltimore Pride Celebration is a reminder that we are indeed one nation, made up of many communities, drawing strength from our diversity. Weeks after the fateful attack in Orlando, the sense of solidarity fostered by the Baltimore Pride Celebration is more important than ever. I congratulate the organizers and volunteers of GLCCB and the Baltimore Pride Celebration for more than four decades of community service, activism and education in Baltimore. America’s never-ending effort to become a ‘more perfect union’ involves the long quest to secure equal rights and justice for the LGBTQ community.”
In June, Senator Cardin recognized LGBT Pride Month in the U.S. Senate. His remarks are available here.
