Cardin Response to the Trump Administration’s Domestic Gag Rule, Latest Attack on Women’s Health

BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a member of the Senate Finance Health Care Subcommittee, issued the following statement on the Health and Human Services notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) attacking the Title X Family Planning Program.

“It is appalling to see the Trump Administration continue their relentless assault on women’s health and wellbeing. Access to family planning services is one of the best tools we have to prevent abortions. President Trump fails to recognize that every move he makes to deny women low-cost, accessible health care options simply to placate his political patrons will only put the lives of women and children at great risk. While I have little faith in the Republican leadership to stand up against President Trump on behalf of the women of America, I urge them to help us block this policy from ever being enacted.”
