WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a member of the Senate Finance Health Care Subcommittee, issued the following rebuke of the federal appeals court decision on the Obamacare individual mandate.
“Republicans want to destroy our health care system rather than fix it. Today they are closer to achieving their mission. The Trump administration has repeatedly refused to defend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which helped tens of millions of Americans to obtain more affordable, quality health coverage. Protections for millions of Americans with preexisting conditions remain at risk. Republicans will be directly responsible for any coming spikes in costs for millions of middle income families and any loss of the many patient protections guaranteed by the ACA.”
