WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement on the killing of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey in Ankara early Monday.
“My thoughts and condolences are with the Russian people and the family of Ambassador Andrei Karlov, who was serving his country on the front lines of diplomacy in Ankara when he was killed. Such an attack on a member of the diplomatic corps is wholly unacceptable. Diplomacy is a noble calling that can bring forward the hope of stability and peace; violence only will bring more violence, more loss and more suffering.”
