CARDIN OFFERS CONDOLENCES TO VICTIMS OF ISRAEL’S LARGEST FOREST FIRE, LAUDS INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT TO BATTLE ONGOING BLAZE

Washington, DC –
U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, made the following statement in support of Israel.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Israel, particularly the families of those who have perished in one of the country’s worst natural disasters and those who have been displaced from their homes by the ongoing fire. At this time of great national crisis, it has been heartening to see such an unprecedented outpouring of international support for Israel.  Countries like Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Cyprus, as well as Britain, Spain, the U.S., and many others, have provided and continue to provide much-needed equipment and fire-fighting personnel to aid in the battle.  I applaud each of the nations who have lent Israel support, most especially those who recognized that saving human lives is a most worthy cause to set aside political or other differences.”
