CARDIN, MIKULSKI ANNOUNCE FUNDING TO EXPAND GRANTSVILLE ROAD TO RT. 40





WASHINGTON –
U.S. Senators Benjamin L. Cardin and
Barbara A. Mikulski (both D-MD) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will provide a total $47,360 in Rural Development Community Facility Grant funds to expand Hershberger Lane to Rt. 40.
 



 


“It’s important that Western Maryland communities have the resources needed to expand important infrastructure to meet the needs of residents.
  This expansion will ensure better access town hall, the park, businesses and residences,” said Senator Cardin.



 



“This is a federal investment in Western Maryland communities today and tomorrow. I’m so proud that Garrett County will be able to use these funds to continue to develop and grow,” said Senator Mikulski. “I will continue to fight to keep Garrett County communities a priority in the federal checkbook.”


The USDA Rural Development Community Facility Grant program funds essential community facilities for health care, public safety and community and public services. The Appalachian Regional Commission has contributed $240,000 to the project and the State is expected to contribute $40,000.
  Total cost of the project will be $359,200.
