Senators Benjamin L. Cardin
and
Barbara A. Mikulski
 (both D-MD) today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration awarded $417,752 in grant funding to the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority to make improvements to the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport. The funds will help purchase land, make safety enhancements and expand runways. 

“Cumberland is an important transportation hub for Western Maryland and this grant will allow the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority to make important safety improvements that are needed,” said
Senator Cardin, a member of the Senate Budget Committee. “These Improvements will help provide jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region.” 

 “Our regional airports play a key role in maintaining Maryland’s robust economy,”
Senator Mikulski said. “An efficient and safe Greater Cumberland Regional Airport is critical to keeping Western Maryland’s economy moving. This federal funding will help will help attract new business to the region and better serve the needs of the increasing number of people choosing to travel by air. I’m proud to have worked to help secure this important funding.”
