Cardin Congratulates Rachel Jones on Appointment to the Maryland House of Delegates District 27B

BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), former Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, issued the following statement on the appointment of Rachel Jones, his Southern Maryland Field Representative, to fill the vacancy for the House of Delegates District 27B. Governor Larry Hogan followed the recommendation of the Calvert Country Democratic Central Committee. The position became vacant after Delegate Michael A. Jackson was elevated to the state Senate to fill the vacancy left by former Senate president Mike Miller.

“Rachel Jones is going to be an incredible force for good in Annapolis, working on behalf of her constituents in Calvert and Prince George’s County. I congratulate her on this appointment and thank the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee and Governor Hogan for seeing in Rachel the very same intelligence, strength and compassion that we witness daily.”
