Cardin Concerned with Selection of John Bolton as White House National Security Advisor
"The staff and Cabinet consolidation the President is engaged in is deeply troubling for our country."

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement Thursday after President Trump announced that John Bolton would serve as the next National Security Advisor:

“While at times it seems President Trump takes advice from whoever he talks to last, it has been made clear over and over again that he is unable to absorb objective, constructive advice and strategy from even his closest advisors. John Bolton has demonstrated throughout his career he is an extremist and reckless partisan with little regard for U.S. values or allies. I am concerned about what advice he has given the president thus far and how he will use his official position to skew America’s national security in the future. The staff and Cabinet consolidation the President is engaged in is deeply troubling for our country.”
