Senator Cardin continues to monitor the situation very closely.  At this time, his priority is to make sure that decisions related to Ebola are made in a calm and science-based manner. Senator Cardin supports reasonable checks on incoming travelers, including the current enhanced screenings taking place overseas and at key U.S. airports. He agrees with President Obama that this is a national security issue, as well as a public health and humanitarian crisis – but science and the best medical opinions must take precedent.  Senator Cardin is proud that the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda is playing such a leadership role in dealing with this crisis. They are the best in the world in dealing with such extreme health-related challenges.
