“This federal funding will allow the Salvation Army and Meals-On-Wheels to continue providing Baltimore seniors with critical goods and services – including groceries, household essentials, clothing, and other necessities,” the lawmakers said. “Team Maryland will continue to support important resources that help improve the quality of life for seniors across our state and keep seniors safe and healthy as we work to control the pandemic.”

The emergency funding comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It includes:

  • $12,338,798.50 for the Salvation Army
  • $6,056,351.00 for Meals-On-Wheels

The lawmakers previously announced more than $219.5 million in federal funding to expand COVID-19 vaccination efforts across the state and protect Maryland seniors from the virus.
