SENATOR CARDIN PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE BY SERVING NEEDY AT OUR DAILY BREAD

BALTIMORE
– U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD) today participated in the National Day of Service as a way to honor the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Senator Cardin joined more than approximately 40 volunteers in serving a hot meal to hundreds of Baltimore City’s neediest residents.

“The National Day
of Service builds on Dr. King’s legacy, which is grounded in community service and social justice,” said
Senator Cardin.
“It’s important that we return to the original intent of celebrating his birthday and that all Americans understand the importance of helping others, particularly in these difficult economic times.”

Our Daily Bread is Maryland’s hot meal program, serving meals to more than 250,000 Baltimore City residents a year.
Our Daily Bread includes an employment center and kitchen and dining facilities.
