SENATOR CARDIN ATTENDS FREDERICK CO. 'GO GREEN' ENERGY CONFERENCE

Cardin Says American Ingenuity Will Help Reduce U.S. Dependence on Foreign Energy

FREDERICK , MD - U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin (D-MD) today toured the "Go Green" Energy Conference in Frederick County where he announced that America has an "opportunity to become a leader in the clean energy economy, setting the pace for the rest of the world in investing in efficient, clean energy sources."

The Go Green Energy Conference was organized to provide homeowners, businesses and farmers with information on how to save money by cutting energy costs.   The conference was sponsored by Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (MD-6), the Frederick County Office of Economic Development, the Frederick City Department of Economic Development, the Washington County Economic Development Commission and the Carroll County Department of Economic Development.

"W e are living in a critical juncture in our nation's history.   We face an economic crisis, an energy security crisis, and a global climate crisis," said Senator Cardin. "The good news is that the solutions to each one of these problems are intertwined with solutions to the others: the development and deployment of a national clean energy policy."

Senator Cardin, a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, has called for legislation that will help the

United States build a sustainable, low-carbon economy for the 21 st Century.   He has said that a strong U.S. energy policy must be built on three principles: energy efficiency, green jobs and lessening our dependence on foreign oil sources.

"Our energy future, our economy, our health and our security all demand that we reinvent the way

America generates and uses energy. The win-win opportunities here cannot be overstated. Investment in efficient, clean energy will enhance our national security, protect the environment, improve health, stimulate technological innovation, and increase economic growth," said Senator Cardin.
