Cardin Statement Regarding The Health Care Administration Problems At The Department Of Veterans Affairs

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), released the following statement regarding the health care administration problems at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA):

“I am deeply disturbed by the accusations regarding the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs leadership and failure to care of our ill and injured veterans.  From disability claims processing delays to excessive appointment wait times, our veterans deserve better. I am committed to meeting the obligations made to those who service and sacrifice for our freedom,” said Senator Cardin. “Like President Obama, I find these issues with the VA completely unacceptable. Millions are helped each year by the VA health care system, but just one veteran waiting for an inordinate amount of time for the health care they deserve is one too many. My office has been in daily contact with VA officials and will continue until these issues are resolved and our veterans receive the benefits they have earned after years of honorable service. America cannot and should not break our promise to those who have sacrificed so much to protect our great nation.”
