Cardin Praises Biden for Lifting Ban on Transgender Individuals Serving in the U.S. Military
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Special Representative on Anti-Semitism, Racism, and Intolerance for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly, applauded President Joe Biden’s executive order overturning the ban on transgender individuals from serving in America’s armed services.
“President Biden is fulfilling his campaign promise to reverse the discriminatory policies put in place by his predecessor. The Biden-Harris administration recognizes that government-sanctioned discrimination runs counter to our values and our national security. My hope is that the administration can reverse the damage done and restore status for the thousands of transgender Americans impacted by the ban or currently serving in our volunteer-military. These individuals are patriots who now have a commander-in-chief who values their service and sacrifice for our nation.”
