Cardin on Razor-Thin Election: Be Patient

BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) issued the following statement on the ongoing election count:

“Maryland delivered resounding results for the Democratic ticket last night, but even we are still counting votes. It’s how elections work. Now that the voting is done, in America, we count votes and let every voter have their say. I urge voters and everyone around the world waiting for the results to be patient. Let every vote be counted, according to the rules set out by the respective states. No one has won this presidential race yet.

“President Trump was wrong to claim victory when millions of votes were still to be counted. He has attacked and degraded our Constitution and the rule of law for the last four years. For now, he is president of the United States. He must follow the law and act in the best interest of our country and not only himself by showing patience and allowing the regular process to work.”
