CARDIN, MIKULSKI ANNOUNCE RURAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT FOR TOWN OF ACCIDENT

WASHINGTON —
U.S. Senators Benjamin L. Cardin and
Barbara A. Mikulski (both D-MD) today announced that the Town of Accident in Garrett County has been awarded a $32,140 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development grant to purchase a town dump truck and snow plow.

“The new dump truck and snow plow will replace a truck that is no longer in service due to safety concerns,”
Senator Cardin said. “This federal grant will help provide the needed equipment for road maintenance and for snow and ice removal so that the residents of the Town of Accident have safe, well maintained roads.”

“These federal funds will take some of the burden off local taxpayers by helping them purchase a new dump truck and snow plow for the Town of Accident,”
Senator Mikulski said. “This is an investment in keeping the town’s streets clean and clear and its families safe and on the move.”

The Rural Development grant program was created to improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.  The program helps support essential services and infrastructure improvements, and promotes economic development by supporting loans to businesses through banks and community-managed lending pools.
