Cardin Appointed To Senate-House Conference Committee On Water Resources Bill

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) has been appointed to serve as a Senate Conferee to resolve differences between the Senate and House versions of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). Senator Cardin serves as Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Water Subcommittee and is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee.

“Clean water and safe waterways mean good jobs for Marylanders and Americans nationwide. The Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) invests in the health of the Chesapeake Bay,” said Senator Cardin.  “The Senate passed a good, well-balanced bill that invests in our nation’s water infrastructure is a foundation for our economy and boosts our national competitiveness.  My expectation is that the House conferees are open to good-faith negotiations and cooperation so that we can develop a bipartisan compromise quickly that improves on our progress.”
