CARDIN ANNOUNCES RURAL DEVELOPMENT LOAN TO RENOVATE NEW BUILDING FOR FEDERALSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin announced today that the Federalsburg Police Department will receive a $456,560 loan from Rural Development funds to renovate a building for the new police department.

The department's current building is in need of a new heating system, new communications equipment and additional space for holding cells for prisoners. Currently, there are no holding cells and prisoners are restrained by chains hooked to walls.

“Caroline County residents need to know that their police department has the equipment and resources to respond to any situation. It is critical that Federalsburg police have a working environment that will allow them to fully carry out their duties,” said Senator Cardin.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be approximately $1 million.
