Cardin Condemns Attack on Tourists at Tunisian Museum

WASHINGTONU.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement regarding today’s terrorist attack on the National Bardo Museum in Tunis, Tunisia.

“I hope the world will speak in a united voice condemning today’s terrorist attack on innocent tourists at the Bardo Museum. The targeting of civilians at a site that houses some of the greatest treasures of antiquity is cowardly. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Tunisia as well as the countries whose citizens were wounded or killed in the attack. Those responsible for this depraved act must be brought to justice.

“Tunisia is one of the world’s newest democracies. Now more than ever, the United States and our allies must resolve to stand by the people of Tunisia so they may recover from this heinous attack and continue on the path towards becoming a fully representative democracy.”
