Cardin Underscores Effectiveness Of Affordable Care Act For Seniors At Baltimore’s Keswick Multi-Care Center

BALTIMORE, Md. – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, today met with administrators of the Keswick Multi-Care Center to discuss one of the many ways that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is improving care for seniors. The ACA includes incentives that promote coordinated care and encourage investment in discharge planning and transitional care to avoid unnecessary hospital re-admissions. The Keswick facility is pioneering new ways to aid hospitals in caring for discharged patients and reducing health care costs.

“The Affordable Care Act is working,” said Senator Cardin.  “It has already extended the life of the Medicare Hospital Trust Fund by 13 years, and it is encouraging integration between acute and post-acute care settings. Keswick is a key player in this arena.

“We want to do all we can to help seniors age-in-place in comfort and dignity,” Senator Cardin continued. “Keswick’s multi-care system is precisely the type of innovation necessary to address the emerging needs of our growing senior population.”

Keswick Multi-Care Center is a locally owned, not-for-profit organization that provides a variety of services dedicated to enhancing quality of life for seniors. More information is available at www.keswick-multicare.org.
